Obituary for William "Bill" Decatur Strong

William Decatur Strong passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

William lived a quiet and studious life and being granted an earthly life of 70 years, 1 month, and 1 day.

Bill was born on December 29, 1949, to the late Rex Decatur and Kathryn Loraine Oldham Strong.
Bill graduated with the Bosworth High School Class of 1967 and attended Chillicothe Vocational School.
Bill married Pamela Schwindt on October 23, 1976, and this union was blessed with two daughters, Susan and Sarah.

Bill was an Audio-Video Engineer for Forty years for the University of Missouri Kansas City Medical School. He retired in May of 2014.

Bill was united in marriage to Diane Elaine Jacoby on August 27, 2000, in Richmond, Missouri.
Bill and Diane shared 19 years of marriage, and Diane survives of the home.

Bill enjoyed collecting unique items from antique radios to postcards, and he had an extensive LP record collection. He especially enjoyed listening to the Oldies and other various music.
Family gatherings were significant to Bill, and he captured many of these memories through his camera lens. Photography was his favorite hobby, and he captured a variety of photos over the years, but his most prized collection was his photography equipment featuring many antique cameras. Bill enjoyed browsing through the website, Shorpy, to view the vintage photographs. He also liked working on muscle cars and attending antique auto shows. He had an affinity for Dodge and Chrysler products. Bill was a good and generous man with a kind heart, and he will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diane; four daughters; Susan Elizabeth Johnson and husband Brian of Lee's Summit, Sarah Nicole Helm and husband Nathan of Liberty, Denessa Elaine White of Chillicothe, Dedra Elana Wright of Kansas City; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Ellen Meier-Jacoby; a brother-in-law, Dwight Eugene Jacoby; four grandchildren, Arthur Dylan and Aubrey Nicole Helm, Xavier Alexander White, and Destiney Ranee Xolo.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Rex Decatur and Kathryn Loraine Strong; and father-in-law, Donald Leroy Jacoby.

It was the family's choice to have a private graveside service to honor Bill's private nature. Please remember the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Burial will take place on February 1, 2020, in the Van Horn Cemetery Carrollton, Missouri.

The family has requested the Van Horn Cemetery and the Wharton Cemetery for memorials.
