Obituary for Minnie Mae McQueen

Minnie Mae McQueen, a lifelong Carrollton, Missouri resident, passed away Saturday, at 12:31 p.m., January 18, 2020, at The Living Center, Marshall, Missouri.
Minnie Mae lived with the love for travel and was granted an earthly life of 85 years, 8 months, and 12 days.
On May 6, 1934, in Worthington, Missouri, the Lord blessed the home of Victor and Maude (Humphrey) Leonard with a daughter, naming her Minnie Mae. Minnie attended grade school at Worthington Elementary, and briefly attended Unionville High School, later obtaining her GED (General Education Diploma).
She was united in marriage to Jack E. McQueen on February 3. 1951, in Low Ground, Missouri. Their union was blessed with five children, Jane, Pam, Ronald, Eldon, and Joseph.
Jack preceded Minnie in death on November 2, 2011, after 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Minnie was foremost a housewife and mother, but she held employment at Carroll County Hospital in housekeeping. She also worked for Banquet Foods in Marshall, Missouri.
She proudly served as a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Minnie believed in the Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Minnie enjoyed reading, sewing, and loved writing about family history and looking up their genealogy roots. She would often sit on her front porch and watch the people pass by and a shared wave between them. The real passion she had was to travel. She loved the adventure and the many new places to go sightseeing. They would often go to the lake and pitch tents or take their camper. Minnie adored her grandchildren and was so proud of them. We will miss her perfectly baked Angel Food Cake and the Divinity she made at Christmas, but we will mostly miss her presence in our lives.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Hill of Lee’s Summit, and Pam Rafferty (Tom) of Marshall; three sons, Ronald McQueen, of Carrollton, Eldon McQueen of Lee’s Summit, and Joseph McQueen (Alberta) of Carrollton; eight grandchildren, David, Timothy, Marla, Patrick, Jackie, Brandi, Kila, and Crystal; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parent Victor and Maude; her beloved husband, Jack; four siblings; Ray, Leslie, Howard, and Hazel; and a son-in-law, Robert Hill.

Funeral Services will commence at Foster Funeral Chapels, Carrollton, on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with John Morris officiating.

There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for friends to gather with family and to honor the life of Minnie Mae.
