Obituary for Mary Jane "Janie" Johnson

Mary Jane “Janie” Johnson, of Hardin, Missouri, peacefully passed away with family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, 0n Tuesday morning, 2:49 a.m., November 6, 2018, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Janie lived vibrantly with a generous heart and being granted an earthly life of 44 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

On December 8, 1973, in Richmond, Missouri, the Lord blessed the home of Joseph Earl and Mary Thaddia (Warinner) Johnson with the gift of a daughter.

She attended Hardin School through the eighth grade, finishing her education and graduating with the class of 1992, from Stet High School. She attended and graduated from Jones Beauty School and began her employment career in Cosmetology. She also worked in retail. Janie did well in both fields with her welcoming charm, infectious laugh, and consistent way of making others feel happy.

Janie loved to travel and enjoyed her time living in other regions which include: Long Island, New York, Cleveland, Ohio, and Hanover, Pennsylvania. She became acquainted with many friends through her travels and gaining great friendship and lasting bonds over the years.
Janie had a wonderful sense of humor and could always fill a room with laughter and cheer. She loved tiger lilies, the color of pink, and good music. Her love for music began at an early age while listening to her mother’s classic albums which led her to become cultivated in many musical genres. Janie adored her son, Cash. The depth of her love for him became a new and diverse binding when she was first diagnosed with Melanoma in 2014. She fought the battle fiercely because of the love for Cash and the yearning to witness his accomplishments, and to hug him through the trials. She never despaired and remained positive and truly thankful for the past five years that were not promised and lived each day with faith. She felt contentment knowing that Cash would receive much love and structure from her family and his happiness would not falter. Janie would ask us to live every day as a gift and remember to always remain humble, happy, and kind, but most importantly to be gracious for each day granted. Janie held onto faith and believed in the Lord as her Savior. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hardin, Missouri.

Janie is survived by her beloved eight-year-old son, Cash Cunningham of Hardin; her mother and step-father, Mary and Bill Adams of Hardin; her father and step-mother, Joseph and Jana Johnson of Hardin; two siblings, Chantell Rae Johnson, and Damon Edward Johnson and his wife, Alexandra, all of Hardin; and her best friend, Vic Destefano of the home.
Janie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Madge and Ed Johnson, and grandmother, Mary Jane Brock.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Hardin, Missouri with Pastor Chris Cox and Jason Frazier officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the church.

In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy in memory of Janie memorial contributions are suggested to, Cash Cunningham College Fund.
