Obituary for Jane Ray Bartlett

Jane Ray Bartlett of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away at 4:25 a.m., on Monday, September 10, 2018, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.

Jane lived accomplished, being granted an earthly life of, 86 years, 11 months, and 4 days.

It was on a Tuesday, October 6, 1931, in Carrollton, Missouri, that the Lord blessed the home of William and Iva (Vance) Thomas with the precious gift of a daughter and they named Jane Ray. Jane attended school in Bogard, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1949.

It was during high school when she became more acquainted with a charming young man that had returned home from the war. It was not long after she graduated that their journey began in Bogard, and on December 4, 1949, Jane Ray became the wife of Roy Eldon Bartlett, and to this union, they were blessed with three children, Karen Jean, Roy Eldon, Jr., and Jane Ellen.

She was first a wife and mother always knowing this was the most important blessing to be awarded. In 1956, she was offered a part-time teller position at Farmers Bank of Bogard, and with her children attending Bogard Public School and knowing the safe two-block distance helped her decision and accepting this position. It wasn’t any time at all before she could accomplish many of the daily tasks in the bank and in 1982, she was promoted as the Assistant Vice-President/Teller Supervisor. In this same year, the bank relocated to Carrollton and Jane Ray made the move with Farmers Bank, maintaining her position. When Farmers changed their name to Bank 21, she again proved her loyalty and remained as their employee. Jane Ray was always willing to try new projects and yearned to become more knowledgeable in all managing aspects, proving her worth and receiving another promotion as the new Vice-President of Bank 21. Her goal was always to serve the bank, customers and community, and she always enjoyed working, never complaining of any of her duties. She proudly served her communities before taking retirement at the age of 79, after serving a remarkable 54 years of dedicated employment. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the Women’s Club of Bogard.

Jane and her husband loved to travel and explored many landmarks across the United States. Sadly, on January 23, 1985, Roy passed away and she now had to learn to cope with losing her husband, her best friend and her traveling partner. She decided she should continue to travel, but now, wanting to venture further out of the states to see foreign lands, such as China, Australia, Alaska, Hawaii, England, and several places in Europe. Jane anticipated her arrival home so she could share her stories of adventure and the lessons learned from the many cultures. She held a great respect and liking for all sports but had an especial love for Nascar, with Carl Edwards being her favorite driver. She would not miss a Nascar race, even if it meant missing her Kansas City Chiefs play and going home early from the Sunday family dinners. Jane Ray was highly respected and was a staple in the community. She will be greatly missed by her family and by her friends.

Jane leaves behind her loving children, Karen Jean Brown of Carrollton, Roy Eldon Bartlett, Jr., and his wife, Wanda of Carrollton, and Jane Ellen Ford of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Veronica Ann Elliott and husband Roger of DeWitt, Missouri, Dustin LaWayne Brown and his significant other Laura Hrdy of Carrollton, Diana Renee Thomas Brown of White Rock, Scott Allen Bartlett and wife Shawna of Carrollton, Michael Dwaine Bartlett and wife Kim of Carrollton, Melisa Ann Dankenbring and husband Jason of Waverly, Beth Michelle Rugg and husband David of Richmond, Erik William Ford and wife Dekala of Carrollton, and Cassie Lynn Webb and husband Jared of Hardin; 22 great-grandchildren, Roger, Samantha, Triston, Brittany, Paige, and Jasmyne; Brandon, Ethan, Sydney, Sophia, and Reese; Kassidy and Kennedy; Blake and Alyson; Lizabeth, Logan, Myka, and Payton; Sterling, Bryce and Gage; six great-great grandchildren, Riley,Korbin, and Austin; Steven and Samuel, and Emmett Ford; a sister, Lois Jean Haney and husband Arthur of Kearney, Missouri.
