Obituary for Clyde "Farrel" Padgett

Clyde "Farrel" Padgett passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020, in Salado, Texas.
Farrel was granted with an earthly life of 68 years, 9 months, and 13 days.

He was born on March 23, 1951, in Saline County, Marshall, Missouri, to Clyde and Joan Lee (Green) Padgett. He graduated with the Marshall High School Class of 1970. Farrel was united in marriage to the late Jean E. Wheeler on August 7, 1971, and this union was blessed with four children and eight grandchildren. Jean sadly preceded him in death on May 13, 2014, after 42 years of marriage.

Farrel was employed as a contract Landman in the oil and gas industry.

Farrel loved to travel, especially going on cruises. He loved country dancing, telling jokes, and hosting family barbeques was his favorite because it meant that everyone would be together, and he could spend time with his grandchildren. The holidays were always another favorite because Farrel loved to dress up in style and make everyone smile. He was a very supportive father to his four children and seven grandchildren. He loved to surprise people with gifts and especially enjoyed a good prank. He fancied yard work, repairing things and helping others, and you would never see him in a shirt without a pocket for his pens. He was always at his grandkid's sporting events, cheering them on and meeting all their friends and was known as the cool Grandpa. The most important is that you never saw Farrel without wearing a natural and infectious smile.

He was always the caregiver and never left anyone that was needing repair or care. He loved providing for others more than himself. As much as it hurt, he loved taking care of our mother and making sure she had the best care through her struggles with cancer. He took great pride in his role as her husband and friend. He was fortunate to love and to be loved after our mom. When Charmaine came into his life, the light that had been burned out was relit. He was too good of a man not to share that love and strength again, and for this, we are forever thankful.

On August 10, 2019, Farrel was united in marriage to Charmaine Elizabeth Barker of Salado, Texas. Farrel and Charmaine were married for five months before his death.

Farrel is survived by his wife, Charmaine; sons Chad Padgett and wife Jen of Centennial, Colorado and Lance Anh and his wife Ngoc Duong Pham of San Diego, California; two daughters, Stacy McGaughey and husband Mark of Hudson, Texas and April Romero and husband Josh of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren: Carter and Mia Romero of Austin, Texas, and Taylor Jordon, Chandlyr, and Eli McGaughey all of Hudson, Texas, Derrick, Jenny and Leon Pham of San Diego, California; a mother-in-law Margaret Ellen Wheeler of Carrollton, Missouri; a brother Rick Arni and wife Karen of Sedalia, Missouri; a sister Tina Baugh and husband Barry of Salem, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Farrel was preceded in death by his parents and late wife, Jean.
