Obituary for Billy Franklin Claud

Billy Franklin Claud of Carrollton Missouri passed away after a long illness with Huntington’s Disease early Tuesday at 2:32 a.m. on January 2, 2020, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri.
Billy was granted an earthly life of 70 years, 7 months, and 5 days.

It was a Saturday on May 28, 1949, in Lake Village, Arkansas, when the home of Walter and Vivian Virginia (White) Claud was blessed with a son, and they named him Billy Franklin.
He attended school at Lakeside High School, graduating with the class of 1967. One year after graduating, he proudly enlisted into the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He spent a year in Thailand and much time in Vietnam, training in mechanics of Refrigeration/Air Conditioning and was a Bulk Plant Manager and Specialist in Cryogenic Fluids; earning the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Defense Service Medal, and Air Force Expeditionary Medal.

Billy was united in marriage in Lake Village, Arkansas, to Rea Lee Hinds on Saturday, April 1, 1972, and this union soon became richly blessed with a son, Michael Adrian. Rea Lee survives of the home.

After Billy served two terms with the USAF, he invested his time into row-crop farming and raising cattle in Carroll County, Missouri, remaining loyal to agriculture throughout his working years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence- Lovell England Post#1773, and The American Legion.

When Billy wasn’t in the fields or with his cattle, you could probably find him quail hunting or deep in the woods or a tree stand waiting for the perfect buck. He also owned an excellent selection of collector edition knives. His passion was sports and rarely would miss any of the high-school sports games, especially Little League Baseball. He supported all the kids at their games. He was asked to umpire once and decided that was not the extra support he wanted to contribute and remained as a spectator. He enjoyed spoiling his grandsons and supporting their athletic endeavors. Billy was very jovial and always teasing and cutting up with his friends. He was loved by all that knew him and will be dearly missed.

Billy is survived by his wife Rea Lee of 47 years; a son Michael Adrian Claud and his wife, Marti of Carrollton, Missouri, two grandsons, Gage Boggs and Gavin Claud; a brother Walter Claud and his wife, Donna of Forrest City, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Adrian Ann Hinds of Grain Valley, Missouri; and two nephews, Jason Claud and his wife, Laura, and Monte Massey and his wife Samira; and a great-nephew Teddy Massey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Vivian Claud.

There will be private family services at a later date.
