Obituary for Audrey "Aug" Naomi Pierson

Audrey “Aug” N. (Winfrey) Pierson, a lifelong Carroll County, Missouri resident, passed away Wednesday morning, January 15, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Missouri.

Audrey lived ardently and steadfast being granted an earthly life of 98 years, 2 months, and 25 days.
On October 21, 1921, in Carroll County, Missouri, the Lord blessed the home of Elmer and Bertha (Jones) Winfrey with a daughter, naming her Audrey Naomi. Audrey graduated with the Carrollton High School Class of 1939, and she was united in marriage to Ross Pierson on November 18, 1939, in the Baptist Parsonage in Carrollton, Missouri. Their union was blessed with three sons, Ronnie, Jim, and Rick. Ross preceded her in death on August 24. 1978, after 39 years of marriage.
Audrey was a farmer’s wife and worked side by side with Ross, working ground, driving trucks, and always placing a delicious spread on the table for meals. Ross and Audrey’s home was always open for a good meal and even better company. You could always depend on Audrey having a pot of brown beans on the stove with a side of fried potatoes and onions.
Audrey loved being outdoors. She took great pride in keeping an abundant producing garden, a well-groomed yard, and her flower beds were always blooming with an abundance of color. Audrey was a survivor and stood through many trials on their farm, making it through several floods, drought, and hailstorms, yet she was always right there and ready to step in and provide any of the work; re-planting crops, hauling grain, or feeding and tending the farm animals. This fighting spirit and trials she endured helped her throughout her life and later to accept, to stand, and to fight and survive breast cancer. Audrey spent countless hours on the porch and watching people drive by and enjoying the waves shared between them. She absolutely loved to dance, and she loved babies and could calm an unhappy baby with her sweet, gentle touch.

She is survived by two sons: Ronnie Ross Pierson and his wife Dotti of Richmond, Missouri, and Richard Joe “Rick” Pierson and his wife Elizabeth of Norborne, Missouri; a daughter in law Carole Pierson of Carrollton, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Eric Pierson, Jill (Adam) Courter, Patrick (Tracy) Pierson, Brian (Jill) Pierson, Jamie (Heath) Owen, Justin (Tiffany) Pierson, Emilie Anne (Anthony) Rigolizzo, Bailey Elizabeth (Paul) England, Ross (Lauren) Pierson, Paul (Kalie) Pierson; 24 great-grandchildren, Katie, Josie, and Mollie Pierson, Kendal and Pierson Courter, Paige, Lexi, and Kain Pierson, Brett, Raegan, and Taylor Pierson, Shelby, Peyton, and Alisen Pierson, Grady and Jack Owen, Anthony, Isabella, and Alex Rigolizzo, Archer and Everett England, Parker and Reese Pierson, and Elias Pierson; and one great-great-grandchild, Ary Fariadacunha.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross; two sisters, Veda Adcock and Velma Bock, and sadly endured the loss of a son, Jim Pierson.

Funeral Services will commence at Foster Funeral Chapels, Carrollton, Missouri, on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Martin Brooke officiating.

There will be a visitation prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the friends and family of Audrey to gather and share memories.
