James Maurice Carew
James Maurice Carew went to be with The Lord on Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born on July 25, 1927 to Patrick and Anna Carew in Carrollton, Missouri. He is survived by his brother, Bill Carew and wife, Nancy, nephew Kevin Carew, niece Kerry Carew Hightower, and cousins Bernard Schreiner and Francis Schreiner.
Jim attended St. Mary's Catholic School, and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1945. He joined the Navy during World War II and enlisted in The Air Force in 1951. After four years of service he attended St. Benedict's College for one year and transferred to Central Missouri State where he graduated with a BS degree in economics. Following graduation, Jim worked for the Missouri State Employment Department until he retired in 1988.
Jim spent his retirement years in Carrollton. He was kind and caring person always willing to help and care for others. He enjoyed sports and was a Royals and Chiefs fan. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at Foster Funeral Chapels, Carrollton, Missouri with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Tom Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in memory of Jim. They may be left at or mailed to Foster Funeral Chapels, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
